What is Merkel cell carcinoma?

Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) is a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer that arises from Merkel cells, which are located on the top of the Dermis. Merkel cells are responsible for the sense of touch. MCC typically appears as a firm, painless, and fast-growing lump or nodule on the skin and often occurs on sun-exposed areas, such as the head, neck, and limbs.
